Getting the Board on Board is a practical, self-paced training designed specifically for preschool boards. In about 45–60 minutes, participants will explore what early childhood education really means, what effective governance looks like, and how to build a mission-driven, strategic board that truly makes a difference. Through five engaging modules, real-life scenarios, and interactive exercises, board members will learn: What early childhood education is, and why it matters for governance The roles and responsibilities of the board vs. the Director How to run effective meetings and communicate as a team How to keep every decision aligned with the school’s mission and vision How to recruit, onboard, and develop new board members for long-term success Participants have 72 hours to complete the training once they start, with downloadable handouts and reflection prompts to bring back to their next board meeting. This training helps preschool boards feel more confident, focused, and united, so they can lead with purpose and keep their school thriving.
